Close to the edge of the crater, in a fascinating natural scenery, in the height of 400 metres, startes a golf camp. The crater is 200 metres deep and 1 km wide. The place itself is very quiet. The closest center is the village of Monte Lentiscal (2,5 kms) or a townlet Santa Brígida (7 kms).

The Golf Club Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas, located here, presents the oldest golf club in Spain. It was established by the british colonists in 1881. Originally it was settled in Lomo de Polvo, in 1959 it has been moved to Caldera de Bandama. The camp is built in the ragged lava terrain without having affect the original caracter of the landscape. Santa Brígida

7 kms far from Caldera de Bandama there is situated a nice townlet of Santa Brígida, an administration centre of the local region. Thanks to many water springs the local earth is very fertil. Because of this Santa Brígida was the fist place to colonize on the island of Gran Canaria. In the area we can admire a lot of elegant villas constructed by the rich british famillies, that emigrated to Gran Canaria. Until nowadays we can find a lot of emigrants from Great Britain.

The townlet is located in 500 metres above the sea level, that´s why the local clima is a little bit colder than in the capital. But this is also a reason why the local vegetation is much richer and the location of the place is an ideal starting point for many walking trips. The place is also known for the production of the best wines on the island and you can even visit a wine museum. The viticultural village Monte Lentiscal is just 2,5 kms far from Caldera de Bandama.

Botanical Garden Jardín Canario

The botanical garden is approximatly 5 kms far from Caldera de Bandama. It is one of the must-see places if you ever come to Gran Canaria. It is situated in Tafira Alta and opened all the year round. Nowadays its funcion is dedicated to the collection, cultivation, study and conservation of the unique Canarian flora. In the Canary islands grow approximately 2000 kinds of plants, 500 of them are endemic, so you cannot find them anywhere else in the world.
